Alvin, Simon, Theodore…do do dododo! Alvin and the Chipmunks

Alvin and the Chipmunks was funnier than the critic's grades. It was. It reminded me of the cartoon. A bit more up to date with some of the lingo but over all very similar. The only issue with the movie is that when the chipmunks are not on the screen the movie is a tad on the slow boring side or, really, the useless storyline side. No one really ever cared about Dave as much---it's all about the Chipmunks. As long as they remember that the next time they do the movie then it’ll only get better. Also adding the Chipettes will be massaging some memories of the show with goodness.

How was the storyline you might ask? I say that it was simple plot that could very well have been a plot for one of the cartoons. It’s all about the music world and how they want the next big thing and when they get the next big thing they use it until it’s all used up. Not very compelling but very understandable considering it is based on a cartoon. Dave, as I stated, had a bland storyline dealing with a female he had a relationship with before. There’s really no need for him to have a life outside of the Chipmunks. It doesn’t really matter.

What about the singing? I mean if you don’t mind the voices from the cartoon why would you feel bothered by them singing in the movie? I wasn’t bothered. I liked it. I was signing along because I knew some of the old songs they were singing again. Oooh E ooh ah ah…yeah you know which one. It was a fun singing movie that kids will love and those that loved the Chipmunks when they were kids will love.

Alvin and the Chipmunks is listed under Kids/Family but it’s given a PG-13 rating. How confusing is that? I don’t know what exactly they were referring to as rude humor but I must have missed it. Ha. It wasn’t that rude since it reminded me of the cartoon I loved as a kid. I heard laughter in the theater so I’m guessing the movie was also funny to everyone else around me as much as I thought it was funny.

It’s really simple. If you like the cartoon you’ll like Alvin and the Chipmunks. If you did not like the cartoon stay away from the movie. I’m so going to buy it. YAY. I remember the 1987 movie The Chipmunk Adventure? I do. Alvin and the Chipmunks made me want to go out and find that movie and own it. I also had the song stuck in my head do do dodo…which, hopefully, now you do to! You’re welcome.

This movie was an awesome movie! i would totally go out and buy it right now. i knew what the previews of the movie had definitely showed what the movie was to be about. you dont have to be a kid to see this movie. you can go see this with the family and you don't have to worry about those weird scenes and hide your kids faces in this movie. my stomach was hurting during the movie because it was soo funny. i love it when they sing.
